What to Bring
How to Pack for Your Stay
It’s important to make sure people have the items they need to stay comfortable while seeking treatment. For inpatient treatment, we recommend you bring the following list of items to Rockford Center:
- Current identification and insurance cards
- Overnight personal care items including shampoo/conditioner, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, hair comb & brush, body lotion
- All current medications (will be taken by staff and administered per prescription
- Casual clothing
- Comfortable shoes without laces
- A small amount of money for small purchases (i.e., snacks, stamps, and personal items)
Please DO NOT bring the following items to our facility:
- Any substances that contain alcohol, drugs, or other substances that could be abused
- Tight fitting or short cut clothing
- Shirts with inappropriate slogans or revealing sleepwear
- Food or beverage
- Cellular phones
- Shoes with laces
- Purses or handbags of any kind
- Illegal/over-the-counter/unprescribed medications
- Glass items
- Lighters or matches
- Plastic bags or hangers
- Scissors, knives, razors, sharp objects or weapons of any kind
- Metal files, picks, nail clippers
- Safety pins or straight pins
- Electronic devices, including cell phones, pagers, iPods, cameras, computers, tape recorders, radios, hairdryers, curling/straightening irons, CDs, etc.
- Hats, belts, suspenders, scarves, ties, shoelaces or strings in any clothing items
- Blankets, pillows, towels, washcloths, or stuffed animals (allowed on child unit only)
- Aerosol sprays, spray bottles or canisters (including perfume or body sprays)
- Makeup (exception: adults may have powder foundation without mirror and lipstick)
- Jewelry (exception: wedding rings, religious items, or post earrings)
- No heeled shoes or boots of any kind
- Underwire from bra
- Thong underwear (adults may have at the discretion of staff)
- Any items considered to be potentially dangerous by staff upon review/admission
Any items considered to be unsafe or valuable are to be sent home with family members. Certain valuables can be left in the Rockford Center safe at the discretion of facility staff. Rockford Center will only assume responsibility for those items deposited in the safe.
