Older Adult Treatment
Older Adult Inpatient Care
Rockford Center’s Older Adult Inpatient Program offers a secure, therapeutic environment for adults age 65 and older to restore their mental health. This program is separated from other adult services to give seniors the unique and dignified mental health care they need in a space where they can share their experiences and feelings with other people in their age group.
Treatment plans vary based on the needs of the individual, but they all include structured physical and creative group activities that help to control symptoms and rebuild motivation, self-esteem, and independence. Each day, the individual will be involved in reminiscence and relaxation exercises, music and art therapies and other leisure activities. They are encouraged to discuss concerns and stressors that may have contributed to their current condition in individual and group therapy. Family therapy sessions will also be integral to treatment plans, as we believe caregiver support and education are essential to long-term success. A psychiatrist meets daily with individuals to monitor progress and provide medication monitoring so that any changes or recommendations can be made if necessary.
Our nursing staff for this program is specially trained in providing geriatric care. They are experienced in assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADL), mobility, fall prevention, nourishment/hydration, and interventions for making older adults feel more comfortable and secure.
